EDGE Grant: what replaced the EDG grant in 2026
The EDG grant closed on 29 September 2026. Enterprise Singapore's EDGE Grant replaces it: what it covers, who qualifies, and how to use it to fund automation.
If you've been reading about the EDG grant (the Enterprise Development Grant), the short version is this: it has been replaced. EDG closed to new applications on 29 September 2026. From 30 September 2026, Enterprise Singapore brought EDG, the Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG) and the Market Readiness Assistance (MRA) grant together into one scheme: the EDGE Grant.
EDGE covers up to 70% of qualifying costs for SMEs and up to 50% for larger companies, depending on the activity, with up to S$100,000 per company per year. This guide explains what changed, who qualifies, and how a small business can use EDGE for the kind of project EDG used to fund: automating the manual work that slows a team down. The details below were checked against Enterprise Singapore's EDGE Grant page on 30 September 2026. Grant rules change, so check it again before you apply.
What happened to the EDG grant?
- EDG, PSG and MRA closed to new applications on 29 September 2026.
- The EDGE Grant took their place on 30 September 2026. It covers 8 business areas and over 100 activities, from automation and digitalisation to overseas expansion and sustainability.
- Already applied, or halfway through a project? Nothing is lost. Enterprise Singapore says ongoing EDG, MRA and PSG applications and projects continue to be processed, and you claim when the project is complete.
The EDGE Grant at a glance
| EDGE Grant | |
|---|---|
| Who runs it | Enterprise Singapore |
| Who can apply | Businesses registered in Singapore with at least 30% local ownership. Larger companies (non-SMEs) can apply too. |
| Support | Up to 70% of qualifying costs for SMEs, up to 50% for non-SMEs. The level depends on the activity. |
| Annual cap | Up to S$100,000 per company per year across all activities, refreshed on 1 April |
| Automation sub-cap | Up to S$30,000 of the S$100,000 for single-function digital solutions, integrated enterprise systems and selected automation activities |
| How it's paid | Reimbursement: you pay for the project first, then claim once it's complete |
| Where to apply | The Business Grants Portal. The BizSG grant recommender shows which activities fit your goals. |
Two things catch people out. First, don't assume 70% for automation: support varies by activity. Second, the S$30,000 sub-cap is part of the S$100,000, not on top of it.
Who qualifies for the EDGE Grant?
- Your business is registered in Singapore.
- At least 30% of it is owned by Singapore citizens or PRs.
- Company size is no longer a barrier. SMEs get up to 70% and larger companies up to 50%. Under PSG, larger companies were shut out.
- Some activities add their own conditions, which the BizSG grant recommender shows.
Can the EDGE Grant pay for automation?
Yes, through the Automation & Digitalisation area. Under EDG this work sat in "Innovation & Productivity". Two kinds of activity matter.
Adopting ready-made software. This covers accounting, CRM, HR and payroll, inventory and similar software, and it works like the old PSG. Enterprise Singapore's EDGE FAQ puts it this way: "for activities with pre-approved vendors, businesses should choose from the list." These activities share the S$30,000 sub-cap.
Custom automation and process-improvement projects. This is the kind of project EDG used to fund. "For activities where no pre-approved vendor is required, businesses may engage a vendor of their choice." The project needs a clear, measurable improvement. Costs such as third-party work, software and your own staff's time on the project can count.
Each application takes paperwork and a few weeks of assessment. So the grant is worth it for a substantial project, such as several automations rolled out across a team or across branches, rather than one small workflow.
What makes a good automation project
The best projects start with a specific, costly problem, not with a piece of software. For example:
- Retyping between systems. A part-time admin paid about $2,000 a month to copy figures from one system into another.
- Spreadsheet shuffling. A manager losing two days a month copying numbers between Excel and Google Sheets for reports.
- Documents turned into data by hand. Shipping documents and invoices typed line by line into Excel, then again into the accounting software.
- Messages turned into records by hand. Field crews reporting jobs on WhatsApp, with an admin retyping every message into the job records.
A good application puts numbers on the problem: hours per week, error rates, how long an order takes to go through. Then it shows how the project changes them.
Where Scribe.sg fits
Many businesses used PSG or EDG to buy good software: accounting, POS, HR, inventory. A year later, the team still exports from one system and types into another. Each system works; the gap between them is the problem.
Scribe.sg closes that gap, done for you. We connect the software you already use, so data moves between systems without anyone copying it. You tell us where your team retypes data today, for example "when a supplier emails an order, someone copies it into our sheet and then into Xero". Our team builds the workflow, checks it with you on your own data before it goes live, then runs it and keeps it working as your systems change. See how this works for data entry and invoices.
Every Scribe.sg workflow is built for your business, not bought off a shelf. That makes a Scribe.sg project the second kind above: a custom automation project, where you choose the vendor. It isn't a pre-approved software package, and that's also why Scribe.sg was never a PSG solution.
If you're planning a bigger automation project, book a call. We'll help you scope what to connect, put numbers on what it should save, and prepare the project proposal your application needs, before anything is signed or paid. Enterprise Singapore makes the final call on every application.
